Prenatal Care

As your midwife, I provide compassionate and comprehensive prenatal care throughout your pregnancy. I believe thorough prenatal care by a midwife is essential to a healthy pregnancy. Your personalized prenatal care will include all routine lab work with regular prenatal office visits monthly until 28 weeks, every two weeks from 28-36 weeks,  and weekly from 36 weeks until birth. I make one home prenatal visit around 36 weeks. All prenatal visits include monitoring the well-being of you and your fetus, including checking all vitals and fetal heart rate. These visits usually last one hour. During prenatal visits we discuss how to maintain a healthy pregnancy, nutrition, any concerns or complaints, birth preparation and postpartum care.

Home Birth Care

Personalized labor and birth support are paramount to having a fulfilling birth experience. As your midwife, I provide you with the exact support you desire while monitoring the well-being of you and your baby.

When you are in active labor, I will come to your home to monitor you and your baby while also providing individualized labor support. Labor support can look different for everyone. Having developed a close relationship during our prenatal visits, we will work as a team during your birth focusing on your personal desires and needs. This may include massage & verbal encouragement or simply quiet support. My care will be catered to you and your specific wishes. I will listen to your baby's heart rate intermittently and check your vitals. I will have another licensed midwife join us when birth is imminent to help monitor you and your baby during pushing and the immediate postpartum period. You can birth in whatever position you desire. After birth, I will stay for a minimum of two hours to monitor you and your newborn baby. After you have had some special skin-to-skin bonding time with your newborn baby, I will conduct a thorough newborn and maternal exam, offer breastfeeding support and clean up the birthing area. I will leave only when you and your baby are completely stable.

To maintain the safety of homebirth, I only work with low-risk, healthy people. This ensures a low transport rate with minimal need for interventions and few complications. My midwife assistant and I regularly train for emergency situations and maintain our neonatal resuscitation and CPR training if the need arises. If transporting to the hospital becomes necessary, I will stay with you and continue providing you personalized, compassionate support.

Postpartum Care

I believe the postpartum period is one of the most precious times in life for you and your baby. Compassionate, personalized postpartum care ensures that you feel completely supported during your postpartum time.

As your midwife, I provide postpartum care for you and your baby for six weeks after your birth. This includes a minimum of one home visit at 24-48 hours after birth and another home visit at 1-2 weeks after birth. All visits include comprehensive exams of you and your newborn, as well as, breastfeeding guidance and personalized postpartum support. We will have a final six weeks postpartum visit in my office.
